4 CANADA'S FARM SHOW 2024 Regina, SK | Presented by Viterra On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, I am proud to welcome everyone to the 46th annual Canada’s Farm Show. Every year, Canada’s Farm Show brings together the best and brightest in agriculture, offering a key platform to showcase Saskatchewan’s strong and thriving sector to people around the world. It is an opportunity for producers, exhibitors and international audiences to connect with and see what’s happening in the industry. Canada’s Farm Show was built on the pillars of innovation, education and collaboration. Each day, you will see these pillars come to life in the various exhibits and demonstrations the show has to offer. Many ideas have been launched at this show and I am confident this year will be no different. Agriculture is a key contributor to our provincial economy and it is exciting to see continued growth in the industry. Saskatchewan’s Growth Plan targets for 2030 include increasing crop production to 45 million metric tonnes, expanding irrigation and increasing our agriculture value-added revenue to $10 billion. We are well on our way to meeting each of these targets. In fact in 2023 we surpassed our $20 billion in agri-food exports target, reaching record exports of $20.2 billion. Hitting these targets is possible thanks to the great work of Canada’s Farm Show attendees. Saskatchewan agriculture is resilient. The ever-evolving landscape of agriculture brings varying weather, pest, market and other challenges that producers meet head on. They do this while producing some of the most carbon-friendly, sustainable food in the world thanks to adoption of innovative technologies and research-based production practices; innovations and practices that are on here at Canada’s Farm Show each year. Thank you to all those who contribute to making this world-class event possible. Welcome and best wishes for another productive and successful show. DAVID MARIT Minister of Agriculture On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, I am honoured to welcome you to the 2024 Canada Farm Show in Regina, presented by Viterra. For over 45 years the province has been proudly welcoming exhibitors, producers, and international buyers while showcasing all that Saskatchewan’s agriculture industry has to offer. In the nearly five decades since this event was first launched, we have seen some remarkable growth in our agriculture and agri-value sectors. Today, there are over 300 food processors in the province, with more than 5,000 people employed in the agri-value sector alone. And we boast a world-class agricultural equipment industry, manufacturing farm equipment sold here at home and exported around the world. Our stable business environment, competitive incentives, and personalized support have led to a host of opportunities both for investors from outside the province, as well as for local producers looking to gain traction in international markets. With our network of nine international offices, we’re sharing Saskatchewan’s story and making more connections than ever before. We’re also reaching more markets than ever before, in 2023, Saskatchewan exported goods to 163 countries. These connections are paying dividends as we continue to see record-breaking exports. In 2023, we saw a fourth consecutive year of record agri-food exports, valued at $20.2 billion. That means we’ve gone beyond our growth plan goal of expanding agri-food exports to $20 billion by 2030, seven years ahead of schedule. Total Saskatchewan exports for 2023 were $49.3 billion, the second highest on record in provincial history. Saskatchewan is the safe, sustainable, and reliable supplier the world needs to ensure food security. Through all of this, Saskatchewan has become an attractive investment destination for businesses from around the world, as well as those looking to expand here at home. Recently, we launched Securing the Next Decade of Growth: Saskatchewan’s Investment Attraction Strategy and a new trade and investment website at InvestSK.ca. This strategy will help to increase investment into the province and create more opportunities for Saskatchewan companies and residents. Thank you to the many organizers and volunteers who make this incredible agricultural show possible. Welcome to our great province, and best wishes for a productive and successful show. Agriculture is at the heart of our province, and it is integral to REAL. Back in 1884, we began as a fair that brought together 150 communityminded individuals to exchange goods, information, and experiences, and the spirit in which REAL began, continues today. This year marks a significant milestone of 140 years for REAL, and CFS has evolved from that inaugural fair. It celebrates everything that strengthens our community, emphasizing innovation, education, and collaboration. We look forward to welcoming you all in June. Former Premier Brad Wall will participate in a Coffee Chat on the final day, and there is so much in between, including: • Cultivator’s 24-hour Start Up, gathers the best and brightest in agriculture to pitch ideas, assemble teams and develop a product with a mere 24 hours. • Industry-leading speakers on topics ranging from AI in agriculture, trends, innovations, and the current state of Agtech. • Launch Your Career in Ag, presented in partnership with the Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada, back by popular demand. This event offers a platform for prospective employers to engage with individuals seeking to embark on a career in the agricultural industry. We’re excited to welcome back familiar faces and introduce new exhibitors to our attendees. A heartfelt thank you to our exhibitors for their ongoing investment in our event and for showcasing the latest products and services, which form the very foundation of the CFS. A big thank you to our generous sponsors. Without your continued support and confidence in CFS, we wouldn’t be able to carry on the traditions and opportunities from years past, serving famers and the agricultural industry. I also want to extend my personal gratitude to every attending farmer, as well as to the dedicated REAL staff and volunteers who will be your hosts for the event. I hope you thoroughly enjoy this year’s CFS! I look forward to meeting and connecting with many of you throughout the duration of the show.
